My fascination with graphic design was sparked by my ambition to understand the interconnections of language and the arts.
Born into a Dutch-speaking environment to a Spanish-speaking mother, and having later moved to a different country, switching languages has always been a necessary part of my life, yet also proved to be a great challenge to my education. The arts was my way of escaping the formidable reality of having moved away from everything I had ever known. Linguistics within graphic design can evoke that same intangible feeling, to those who can’t outwardly speak it but it can also draw the parallels for those who understand the conveyed message within design despite a language barrier.
In many ways, I’ve always been an enthusiastic artist starting with aquarelles as a way of mediation for the mind and being able to sit for hours and just shut off from the world. Making small commissions for family and friends by painting small intimate pieces for them and tailoring it to their individual needs. Just like linguistics you cannot learn art through rules you have to bend those conformity principles such as traditional realism art and learn the different ways to become the artist you want to be, I’ve always dabbled with different mediums and styles and branching out of my comfort zone I want to continue exploring these different styles in the hopes of discovering my own artistic signature and let my creativity and imagination come to life.
I am grateful you decided to check out my portfolio, which is also essentially my digital diary and I hope you are inspired to work with me in future.
